My master is a god in the sky. They have a magic mirror that can see their own soul. Every day, they talk to themselves in front of the mirror. But one day, my master found that they could no longer see their soul in the mirror. They panicked and became restless, staring blankly at the mirror every day. As a god dog accompanying my master, I had to take on the mission of finding their soul to prevent them from being sad.
When I arrived on Earth, I found that it had changed drastically. Previously, there were no plants or animals, only bare rocks, gravel, rivers, and oceans. It was desolate and lifeless. But now, everything is thriving and vibrant. Countless plants and animals have appeared, and most amazingly, there are humans. They resemble my master in appearance and have a certain level of intelligence, but unlike my master, they can die and have a limited lifespan. They have two genders and can reproduce... I seem to sense the presence of my master's soul in all living things here. So I infiltrate into every kind of plant and animal, transforming into a human, just to uncover the truth. I experience what they experience and think what they think, including studying the culture and technology created by humans. In all of this, I catch a glimpse of the faint light emitted by my long-lost master's soul. However, I have yet to find the complete soul that my master lost. The most likely speculation is that my master's enemy stole their soul, shattered it into pieces, ground it into powder, and scattered it on Earth, causing all living things to flourish.
My master no longer looks into the mirror much. They often sit in the tower, gazing at Earth in a daze, or hold the books I brought back from Earth, silently flipping through them. The books they read the most are those written by humans about finding oneself and self-awareness. They often burst into tears while reading, and even say that they can't remember what their soul used to look like, only a vague outline and impression remain.
I comfort my master, saying that humans have invented the internet and are currently developing brain-computer interface technology. Once successful, they will be able to connect everyone's consciousness together. At that time, the scattered fragments of my master's soul on every human may have a chance to reunite into a whole. However, my master still looks blank and remains silent. I worry that they may be mentally affected by the loss of their soul, and their intelligence may not even be as good as some adults. So I try to comfort them again: That mirror can only reflect what's in the sky, not what's on the ground... Your soul is not in the sky anymore... Earth is actually another mirror for you, my master...
After a while, my master murmurs, "Who am I exactly? Am I the one in the mirror before? Or am I the one among all things on Earth? Or maybe I don't exist at all?"
